Does your display only support one refresh rate? On an older computer of mine for example I was only able to use 60Hz. However I've upgraded and now I'm able to toggle between 60 and 144.
Jul 1, 2023 A standard refresh rate for most monitors is 60Hz, meaning the image on the screen is refreshed 60 times per second. However, with advancements in technology, higher refresh rates such as 120Hz, 144Hz, or even 240Hz have become increasingly popular.

Aug 1, 2018 I recently reinstalled the game to play with some friends again and found a bunch of issues that didn't happen before. I already fixed most except for the refresh rate. I have an Alienware AW3418DW 3440x1440 ultrawide set to 120hz refresh rate. When I go to my graphic settings, everything looks fine except I'm stuck at 50hz, so when I try changing it my game freezes then crashes. I managed to ...
So i have a 1650 and i have no problems what so ever in 1080p, where my refresh rate is 144hz. So why does it lock itself on 60hz when i lower the res? Makes no sense to me, i've checked everything, the scaling mode, the res, refresh rate in nvidia settings, but for some strange reason its still happening.
romsnbombs 8 years ago #4. nvidia control panel > manage 3d settings > program settings > add GTA V > preferred refresh highest available. floppysox (Topic Creator) 8 years ago #5. I've tried every option in the control panel. Still only limits me to 60hz in game.
Click OK, then run restart64. The screen will flicker for a second so the change can take effect. You don't need to, but then you can reboot if you want. In GTA V, under "Graphics" you will now see that 60Hz is enabled - and I guarantee the game will be smoother.
Before I was able to change it, now I can't.. help?
Posted February 22, 2021. Hi, I just got a new PC and am running my 24" 1080p monitor at 144hz with no problems. I am using a DisplayPort cable. My problem now is that I just bought a new monitor "Samsung Odyssey G5 32", and when connected, it won't go above 60hz in the monitor options, desktop options or nvidia control panel.
Every refresh I have rounds down 1hz in the GTA V graphics menu, including 119hz for 120hz etc, but in reality it's exactly the same refresh you usually use for 60hz. Last edited by fenderjaguar ; Apr 17, 2015 @ 3:21pm. #3. Tank Apr 17, 2015 @ 3:21pm. Try using a DVI cable.
Dec 9, 2023 I have an Acer Nitro EI242QRP which is a 165hz monitor, I previously had Windows 11 before facing this issue, I just got back to Windows 10 and I see that my refresh rate is stuck at 65Hz, this never happened before. When I first bought the monitor I was stuck at 144Hz but that was because I needed a DP cable to DP on both sides to get 165Hz ...
Aug 6, 2020 AMD Community. ear Support, I'v a little problem with the refresh rate of my screen. It's blocked to 60 Hz on windows 10 with latest drivers I've an 75 Hz monitor : benq bl.
Yes that's the issue. 'Display Settings' will show that the monitor has a refresh rate of 60Hz, however the game sees it as 59Hz. I think the issue is, that the monitor actually has a refresh rate of just under 60Hz (say, 59.95Hz) so Windows sees it as this and rounds it up to 60Hz, however GTA 5 does not and only looks at the 59 part. 3.
Apr 14, 2015 Hello, I'm having an issue, my game is locked at 30fps, at 1080p, when I turn vsync on I have my refresh rate set to 60Hz and it doesn't go past 30 fps. When I hit start it goes to 60 in the menu, but back down to 30 in game.
I tried to increase my refresh rate to the 144 that the monitor can handle but without success The only option I can chose is 60 hz. I investigate why this was and did see that windows has chosen the generic PNP monitor.
In the event my television is 60hz, and set to run at 60hz, do you know offhand how to make the game let me change the refresh rate from 24hz? In the game menu, it wont allow me to change it. When I manually set it to 60hz in the menu, it automatically reverts back to 24hz.
Problem is, my least refresh rate is 60, then 100 and 120. :( Assuming you have an nvidia card, go into nvidia control panel and set the refresh rate to 50 there.
Nov 27, 2015 As a work around, I suggest you to install all the pending updates after upgrade to Windows 10. Connect to the internet. Press Windows key and type updates. Click on Check for updates. Under Windows Updates, click on Check for updates. Try to install the updates being shown.
And download it. Open up the program and basically add the same resolution you already have and in the refresh rate enter exactly 60hz. Follow the steps in the link depending if you're Nvidia or Amd(not sure it makes a huge amount of difference) When you open the game you should have a 60hz option rather than 59hz.
