The Little Cities of Black Diamonds Council is an initiative launched and managed by Sunday Creek Associates, a non-profit organization formed in 1990, to promote community development in southern Perry County.

The Little Cities of Black Diamonds Council chose to plant roots in Main Street, Shawnee. Acquiring an address and a phone number in Shawnee, Ohio, the community the council primarily serves, meant more to the organization than merely materializing a physical space where individuals could reach and interact with the council.

Sep 17, 2021 The Little Cities of Black Diamonds region has a rich regional history, and played an important part in national history. The main mission of LCBD over the years has been to collect, archive, and share this history. This mission has been funded primarily through donations.

WHAT WE AIM TO DO. The Shawnee Trail Town Network is a group of non-profit and local government entities helping build an experience-based economy in the Little Cities of Black Diamonds region. Together we host workshops, historical and ecotours, festivals, volunteer opportunities, and celebrations of the arts.

Oct 3, 2015 Little Cities of Black Diamonds preserves the mining history of this Appalachian area, and New Straitsville, a booming town in the late 1800's, is an appropriate place to start a tour visiting significant sites of the mining past. Grab a map at the visitor center and plot your course to visit the small towns that fueled the industry.
